Strength Camp Weightlifting Extravaganza
Weightlifting meets are boring to some and intimidating to others.
Do you want to go on stage wearing a leotard in front of a bunch of completely silent people in order to attempt a task that you may fail at?
You just might, and we do, love the pressure of a good old-fashioned weightlifting meet, but we also enjoy trying to lift big weights with friends.
That’s what we all want when we are lifting weights.
With that in mind we have created the Strength Camp Weightlifting Extravaganza.
Normally you would have to go on stage all alone with three attempts at a Snatch and then three attempts at a Clean and Jerk.
At the Weightlifting Extravaganza there will be 4 platforms running simultaneously with 6 minutes on the clock and unlimited attempts in that time to hit a max lift. (6 minutes for the Snatch, a break, and then 6 minutes for the Clean and Jerk).
Normally this would be the end of a weightlifting meet. Snatch, Clean and Jerk, and then go home.
At the Weightlifting Extravaganza we wanted to keep the fun rolling so there will also be an ascending Barbell Ladder of 4 Deadlifts + 3 Hang Cleans + 2 Front Squats + 1 Shoulder to Overhead. The winner is the man or woman who gets the farthest.
This event will be running at the same time as the fabled Strength Camp Challenege at the Tampa Convention Center.
If you’ve always wanted to try out a weightlifting meet but have been scared off by the singlet and the whole being all alone on a stage in front of a bunch of strangers thing then this IS the event for you.
If you like lifting big weights with your friends then this IS the event for you.
If you just want to have a good time and test your strength then this IS the event for you.
If you are cool then this IS the event for you…and you seem pretty cool.
Make sure to register now as spots are limited to 50 participants.
There will be prizes for the winners of each weight class as well as a prize for the male and female lifters with the best technique.
Snatch: 6 minutes and unlimited attempts to hit a max Snatch
Clean and Jerk: 6 minutes and unlimited attempts to hit a max Clean and Jerk.
Barbell Ladder: An ascending ladder of 4 Deadlifts + 3 Hang Cleans + 2 Front Squats + 1 Shoulder to Overhead.
*1 minute time limit at each barbell. 1 minute reset in between each barbell. Weights will be released soon and will vary for each weight class.
